Jan 16 - Gibraltar College To Offer Level 2 Certificate In Counselling Skills

The Gibraltar College says it will be offering a Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills as from February 2019.

The qualification will be offered through the Counselling & Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB) and is designed to give learners the underpinning knowledge, skills and competencies to use counselling skills ethically and safely in a variety of contexts and roles.

This qualification is for:

  • Those starting the first level of training as a professional counsellor
  • Those who want to learn counselling skills in other professional or helping roles
  • Those who want to improve their professional and personal relationships as part of personal development.
  • This qualification could lead to employment or increase employability for those whose role is to support others in health and social care work, teaching and learning, advocacy and mediation, support and project work, or other helping roles.

The course will be delivered over 45 weeks, with 2-hour weekly sessions taking place on Thursdays from 6 – 8 pm at the Gibraltar College. The course fee is £950 and includes a candidate registration fee of £163. The course is scheduled to commence on Thursday 14 February 2019.

Minister for Education John Cortes said: “I am really pleased that the College will be offering this course. Counselling is so important in helping members of the community deal with problems and mental health issues. The Government has shown how it understands this in the creation of four new counsellor posts in the schools.

"This course will now give an opportunity to people who feel that they want to take up counselling to gain a qualification. I think it will also be of interest to people who generally give time to support others, perhaps in their day to day life, at work, or in clubs or organisations, to develop skills that will help them to do this better. With the caring society that Gibraltar is, I am hoping that there will be a lot of interest in the opportunity that this course is offering.”

Please register for this course at the Gibraltar College reception between Monday 21 January and Friday 25 January 2019, 09:00 – 15:00.
