Apr 15 - GHA Sign Contract With Hospiten Group
The Gibraltar Health Authority (GHA) says it has entered into a contractual agreement with the Hospiten Group, an international network of private hospitals.
In March 2019, the GHA also signed contractual agreements with two other tertiary healthcare companies.
The Hospiten Group, which is chaired by Dr. Pedro Luis Cobiella, is an international healthcare network with 50 years of experience and committed to providing high quality medical service. The Group has twenty, private medical centres in Spain, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Jamaica and Panama and over one hundred walk-in clinics under the ‘Clinic Assist’ brand. The Hospiten Group have well-established medical centres in Estepona and Algeciras, both in close proximity to Gibraltar. In total, the Group has 1,200 beds, attends to over 1.7 million patients and employs over 5,000 people.
Dr Daniel Cassaglia, GHA Medical Director, said: “Having a number of contractual agreements with healthcare providers in Spain allows us to choose the best expertise and quality specialist services available. The GHA strives to access the best possible, and in some cases, world-leading speciality expertise for our patients.”
On behalf of the Hospiten Group, its Operations Director, Mr Rafael Navarro Bravo, said he was extremely pleased to have reached this agreement with the Gibraltar Health Authority and stated, “Hospiten has well-established medical centres both in Estepona and Algeciras, each with a large team of specialists and state-of-the-art technological resources”, and added, “it was a pleasure for Hospiten to offer its services to the people of Gibraltar.”
Minister for Health, Care and Justice, Neil F. Costa, added: “It gives me great pleasure to announce the GHA’s engagement in another contractual arrangement with an established tertiary healthcare provider. Significantly, the agreement with Hospiten Group provides our clinicians with yet another option for tertiary referrals to specialised centers in Spain. I am very pleased to report these hugely positive and welcome outcomes, which have come as a result of months of meticulous work carried out by my excellent teams at the GHA and my Ministry, which, I am confident, will benefit our entire community.”
