The GHA Mobile Health Unit will be deployed to the Piazza between 9am-1pm to conduct PSA tests to those men aged 50 and over who may need this vital health blood check.

Gibraltar Health Authority is supporting World Prostate Cancer Day on Thursday, June 11 in conjunction with local charity Prostate Cancer Gibraltar. The GHA Mobile Health Unit will be deployed to the Piazza between 9am-1pm to conduct PSA tests to those men aged 50 and over who may need this vital health blood check. 

Representatives of the charity, which is the driving force behind this annual initiative, will also be available on the day to raise awareness about good prostate health, answering questions and accepting donations from the public. 

PCG Chairman Joe Holliday said: “A simple blood test can make all the difference and we encourage men above 50 to take that important first step. We want men to have a conversation about this matter, and our team will be there to promote what is a critical feature of men’s health.” 

GHA Director General Dr Paul Bosio said: “The GHA fully supports the aims and objectives of World Prostate Cancer Day. We have an excellent partnership with Prostate Cancer Gibraltar who do great work to promote the importance of testing and early detection, as this is something which actually saves lives. It is a message for the whole community which needs to be repeated as often as possible and we will continue to highlight it at every opportunity.” 

Minister for Health, The Hon Gemma Arias-Vasquez MP, said: “The GHA works closely with Prostate Cancer Gibraltar to raise awareness about the importance of early detection. The Mobile Health Unit will be providing expert advice on if and when to have the test and can also do the test for you there and then at the Piazza on June 11th. Awareness days like these make the disease more open and visible. The underlying message is that men’s health is something we can talk about together.”
