May 23 - Twinning Ceremony for Lions Clubs

His Worship the Mayor Anthony Lima is pleased to announce that a Twinning Ceremony between the Lions Clubs of Gibraltar and Ballymena will take place in his Parlour at the City Hall on Wednesday 29th May at 7.30pm. His Worship considers it an honour to have been asked by the Lions fraternity to preside over the Ceremony and to witness the signing of the twinning documents.

The ceremony will be attended by the Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo, and by a delegation of Ballymena Lions headed by its President, Mrs Anne Henry. Also present will be Councillor Tommy Nicholl and the Clive Beltran who were the Mayors of Ballymena and Gibraltar at the time of the twinning of our two cities. As President, Mr Hector Cohen will head the Gibraltar Lions and there will be representatives from Lions Clubs in neighbouring towns and cities, including Sr. Jose Manuel Garcia Caballero, Governor of District No116-B Spain and the Mayor of La Linea Sra. Gemma Araujo.

His Worship wishes to recall how Ballymena gave refuge to many Gibraltarians in the difficult years of World War Two and has congratulated both Clubs for having had the vision of giving further tangible effect to the twinning arrangements formalised between Gibraltar and Ballymena in 2006.
