Mar 06 - Gingell Steps Down as Defenders Chairman

defenders of gibraltar The Defenders of Gibraltar have welcomed the Chief Minister’s appearance at yesterday’s Commons Foreign Affairs Committee meeting. Somewhat echoing the Mr. Picardo’s comments, the group insists that ‘the United Kingdom has not done enough to deter the constant bullying and harassment by the Spanish Government towards Gibraltar and its people, and should bring its diplomatic pressure to bear in order to begin to see tangible results’

The group claims to have been extremely busy planning their next move ‘and assisting other groups with their own preparations in bringing the Spanish Government to task.’ They are warmed by the number of people of different nations who have  ‘taken the time and effort to hold Spain to account, and actively contribute to the Gibraltar struggle’.

Chairman of the group, Gareth Gingell today announced his decision o step down from the forefront of the Defenders, explaining that he wishes to focus on ‘other projects’. An internal election will be held this weekend, and results will be published to the public.
