Mar 20 - Ben Okri to Deliver Oxford Literary Festival Gibraltar Lecture
Renowned African poet and storyteller Ben Okri will be delivering the recently formed ‘Gibraltar Lecture’ at the FT Weekend Oxford Literary Festival 2014 on Saturday March 29th.
The event, one of a packed programme of talks, interviews, seminars and conferences during the nine day festival, will be introduced by Minister for Tourism, Commercial Affairs, Public Transport and the Port Neil Costa. Mr. Okri’s lecture, entitled ‘The Gibraltar Lecture: Writing and the Adventures of the Mind’, will cover major cultural, historical or international importance, at the invitation of the Gibraltar Government.
Commenting on the matter, the Minister noted, ‘I am delighted to have been invited to introduce the Gibraltar Lecture by Ben Okri at this year’s prestigious FT Weekend Oxford Literary Festival. Ben was of course one of the participants at the Gibunco Gibraltar International Literary Festival, which held its inaugural edition last year. It is a great privilege for me and an honour, to be able to present the talk by one of the giants of contemporary English literature.’
