Mar 27 - DPC Will Make No Decisions on Europa Point Stadium at this Early Stage

dpcDuring this morning’s Development and Planning Commission it was confirmed by the panel that the next meeting on April 8th will see the applicants of the Europa Point Stadium present their project to the Commission, and any objectors who formally requested inclusion in the meeting will follow with any objections they may have.

They Town Planner insisted that no decisions will be made at this early stage. Any formal decisions on the plans will follow the results of an Environmental Impact Assessment, and other assessments that need to be carried out on the area.

The meeting is expected to attract a large audience, raising suggestions that it be moved to a bigger venue. The panel insisted that the Charles Hunt Room of the John Mackintosh Hall was their home and therefore the meeting would be held in its usual location. There is a possibility that another lecture room in the John Mackintosh Hall may be used for extra spectators to listen to the meeting and view the applicant's plans on the screen.

It was also noted during the meeting that a Facebook comment on the recently approved Marriott Hotel plans will be looked into by the Attorney General, following serious allegations made about the Commission and their vote on this project.
