Apr 02 - Danish Students Schooled on Gibraltar During School Trip to the Rock

danish students minister linares During a visit to Gibraltar, in an effort to learn more about a culture developed by both English and Spanish influences, students of the Frederikssund Gymnasium high school in Demark were today treated to a question and answer session with Ministry for Culture, Youth and Sport, Steven Linares.

The 30 something strong group of 17 – 19 year olds are spending their visit meeting with students of the Gibraltar College who are set to show them around the usual tourist sights. They also visited the Gibraltar Chronicle yesterday, for an insight into how one of Europe’s oldest newspaper runs.

During his talk, Minister Linares touched upon Gibraltar’s economy, longstanding issues with Spain and the Governmental and Parliamentary systems in place in Gibraltar.

He also responded to questions put to him by the group on language, education and higher education, and the artificial reef.

This is the first time a trip to Gibraltar, from this school has been organised. The visit came about due to the group studying both Spanish and English.  The students were handed Gibraltar Tourist board information packs following heir talk.
