The Queen’s Hotel has closed to make way for a significant redevelopment of the area by the Government. This follows the purchase by the Government of the remaining lease on the hotel and the earlier acquisition of the adjoining Queen’s Cinema which will be the site of cultural facilities including a new theatre.

The hotel was established in the mid 1960s and described itself as “Gibraltar’s only budget hotel.”
