Jun 05 - Community Fire Safety Visit To Knight’s Court

As a result of the fire that took place at a flat in Knight’s Court on the evening of the 27th May, personnel from the City Fire Brigade’s Fire Safety Department conducted a Community Fire Safety visit in the neighbourhood in order to provide the community with some necessary Fire Safety advice.

The Fire Safety Officers arrived in the area at approximately 7.00 p.m. in an attempt to ensure that the greatest number of tenants were at home at the time of their visit. They went from door to door speaking to the tenants directly whilst at the same time handing out the “Fire Safety at Home” booklet to all those visited. This guide is also available to download free from the City Fire Brigade website at www.gibfire.gi.

The officers gave valuable Fire Safety advice on the main causes of fires in the home and provided guidance to the residents on how to reduce the incidence of fire by doing things like closing room doors at night, taking care in the kitchen by never leaving cooking hobs unattended, making sure smoking materials are put out safely and ensuring that smoke detectors were fitted are working properly.

For further information about Fire Safety in the Home members of the public are invited to contact the Fire Safety Department on telephone 20072936 or email them at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
