Jul 13 - Minister Sends Best Wishes To Team Gibraltar For Commonwealth Youth Games
The Minister for Sport, Steven Linares, has extended his best wishes to Team Gibraltar who will be leaving on Saturday 15th July to participate in the Commonwealth Youth Games to be held in the Bahamas from the 18th to 23rd July. Gibraltar will be represented by a total of six athletes, (Swimmers) Aidan Carroll, Mat Savitz, John-Paul Balloqui, Elijah Cruz and David Hitchcock, together with Abdullah Ahammad (Athletics).
Team Manager Linda Alvarez will be accompanied by Mellissa Hollands (Swimming) and Roy Torres (Athletics) as representatives of their different associations.
Both Harry Murphy (President- GCGA) and Joe Schembri (Secretary General) will be in attendance throughout, both to support the athletes and to also attend a series of important Commonwealth Games Federation meetings.
Minister Linares said: “I wish the team a safe journey and fruitful Games. All those participating were recently in Gotland and now need to build on the excellent performances and results achieved only a few weeks ago. I have no doubt that they are ready for the challenge.”
