Oct 05 - GFA Launches Investigation Into Irregular Betting Activity - Four Players Suspended
The Integrity Unit of the Gibraltar FA is currently conducting an in depth investigation into instances of “irregular betting behaviour” allegedly involving players registered with the Association.
The unit has been strengthened with the engagement of an investigative consultant who is assisting the association’s Integrity Officer. The office of the Gibraltar Gambling Commissioner is also providing invaluable assistance to the investigators.
A spokesperson said: “To date four players have been suspended pending an independent disciplinary hearing and the GFA’s Integrity Unit cannot rule out further similar suspensions. In the meantime and since the investigation is still very much ongoing, it would not be proper for the GFA to make any further comments as these may jeopardise the conduct of such investigation.”
