The Gibraltar FA says it is “extremely disappointed” the decision taken by Football’s World Governing Body, FIFA, at its Executive Committee Meeting this week, to reject its membership application on the grounds that Gibraltar is not an independent country.
The Gibraltar FA says it notes the comments attributed to Lee Johnson, the Oldham Athletic Manager, suggesting that he was approached, by an agent, to come out of retirement and play for Gibraltar.
Tickets for Gibraltar’s first away competitive international, (the European Qualifier Republic of Ireland v Gibraltar, at the Aviva Stadium, Dublin on the 11th October 2014) will go on sale as from tomorrow. Tickets can be purchased at the Gibraltar FA’s Headquarters, the Boat House, Bayside Sports complex from 11am to 5pm on weekdays.
The GSD has sent a letter to all local football clubs explaining its position on the proposed Europa Point stadium and its plans to upgrade Victoria Stadium to a Category Four facility.
