Jun 06 - Citizens Advice Bureau Launches Website for Volunteering Opportunities

cabThe Citizens Advice Bureau this morning launched their website here2help.gi, which will act as a bridge for potential volunteers and local charities. The website details many of Gibraltar’s most prominent charities and gives potential volunteers a medium for them to get involved in any specific events being held by the charity, or just in general.

The website has appropriately been launched during International Volunteers week. CAB insists that it aims to supporting, enabling and celebrating volunteering in all its diversity.

Speaking at the launch, which was attended by trustees of various local charities, Minister for Social Services and Equality Samantha Sacramento noted that CAB continually succeed with these sorts of schemes, so she has no doubt that will be successful. She went on to congratulate all the charities present for the work they carry out. Governor Sir James Dutton also spoke at the launch, noting that he and Lady Dutton had never lived in a place with more charity and voluntary work, than Gibraltar.

The website was officially launched by CAB Manager, Pili Rodriguez, who paid tribute to website developer, Michael Recagno. Commenting on the site, Michael explained that it took around 4 weeks to build and aims to not only allow for potential volunteers to get in touch with specific charities, but also serves to educate people on local charities and what they do.  A news and events category is set to be added soon, to inform the public on when certain charity events will occur and how they can get involved.

Charities can register on the site via email, if they are not already listed. Through the website CAB aims to  ‘build stronger connections between organisations and individuals at a local level, by giving people better information about volunteering opportunities in Gibraltar.
