Oct 03 - Oldest Wingwalker In The World To Fly Round The Rock
Tom Lackey, a 94-year-old grandfather, will achieve one of his remaining ambitions when he flies around the Rock of Gibraltar next Friday 10 October. Tom will be strapped to the top wing of a vintage Boeing Stearman biplane.
The fearless grandfather currently holds several Guinness World Records. He is the oldest man to do a loop-the-loop on the wing of an aircraft which he did when he was 86; the oldest man to cross from Dover to Calais and back on the wing of an aircraft (when he was 93) and the oldest man to wingwalk across the Irish Sea.
The former builder from the West Midlands did his first wingwalk to raise money for charity following the death of his wife, Isabel who had served in the RAF and whose photograph he always carries.
Since then he has repeated the wingwalking stunt many times and has raised over £1m for charity.
