May 27 - ERG Launches Equal Marriage Campaign
Equality Rights Group has formally launched its drive for ‘one civil marriage law for all’ today.
A spokesman for the ERG said: “Primarily, it’s a drive to let the public know what we’ve been doing: we’ve approached both the GSLP/Liberals and the GSD to place an equal marriage law in their manifesto commitments for the upcoming elections.
“And we’ve laid out our reasons why we think the job that was started for equality with civil partnership should now be finished.
“We respect religious marriage - religions should be free to decide their affairs. But they can't decide the civil rights of others in our community.
“One marriage law for all without bias for gender or sexual orientation is the only fair and equal way to finish the job of equality.
“And we’ve conveyed that message openly and honestly through these advertisements so that the public is fully informed.
“This is the first stage of the Campaign. Further stages are planned, and they will be made public at the appropriate times.”
