Feb 10 - Unite Clarifies Position Following Overtime Debate

Unite the union has said that its policy has been to never fight or negotiate in favour of discretionary overtime. Instead, the union says that its fundamental policy has been to push for greater numbers of public workers when excessive overtime becomes the norm.
However, Unite adds that it has “fought endlessly and will carry on fighting against any erosion to conditioned or rostered overtime that is specific to the operational needs of any specific department.”
Unite says that, since December, it has highlighted to Government oversights on conditioned or rostered overtime which it says have now been rectified.
