Jul 06 - GSD Reacts To “Reverse Engineering” Explanation And Calls On Picardo To Retract Lloyd’s Editing Claim
The GSD has replied to the explanation offered by the Chief Minister regarding his apparent support for an anti-LNG bunkering page on Facebook. A statement from the party reads as follows:
“The public will be aware of the Chief Minister's statement explaining that his support for the 2007 anti-LNG bunkering Facebook page was down to "reverse engineering" of his Facebook account. He went on to call the Leader of the Opposition a liar.
“This seems an overreaction to a perfectly reasonable question by the GSD. We called for an explanation in neutral terms as to why he appeared to have been supporting this cause since 2007 and he has provided one. It is for people decide whether his "reverse engineering" explanation is believable or not. All we would say is that it takes a lot of foresight for someone to have hacked into Mr Picardo's Facebook account in 2007 simply to add his support to this particular cause.
“We do, however, call on Mr Picardo, now that over a week has passed since he first made the allegation, to withdraw his assertion that the Lloyds LNG Safety Report was "substantially redacted" by some 80 pages. That was untrue and the honourable thing to do would be to withdraw the statement.”
