Feb 05 – New Recruit For The Royal Gibraltar Regiment
Seventeen year old Private Sonny Hicks passed out at the Infantry Training Centre in Catterick today and is the latest recruit to join the Royal Gibraltar Regiment.
Pte Hicks successfully completed the intensive 26 week Combat Infantry Course and is now a fully qualified Infantryman. He joined the Army seeking a challenge and has found the camaraderie of military life a bonus, he said:
“I wanted a job that would teach me new skills and allow me to improve my fitness, the Army is so different from most jobs and the people you work with aren’t just colleagues they become your best mates. I really enjoyed the training, it was tough but there is a lot of support and it feels amazing to pass out today.”
Pte Hicks will now complete a driver training course before joining the Regiment on Exercise Jebel Tarik in Brecon.
