Feb 10 – Governor Visits Royal Gibraltar Regiment

Lieutenant General Edward Davis, the Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Gibraltar Regiment, began his familiarisation of British Forces Gibraltar today with a visit to the Royal Gibraltar Regiment.

Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Ivor Lopez gave His Excellency a tour of Devil’s Tower Camp which included a visit to the new Band Block and the Motor Transport Section.

The Regiment will deploy to the UK this week on annual Exercise Jebel Tarik. The four-week Infantry training exercise involves around 170 Regular and Reserve soldiers. The mandatory training ensures the Royal Gibraltar Regiment’s skills are current and that they are operationally competent for the next 12 months.

During their absence soldiers from 10 Signals Regiment will be based in Gibraltar to cover regimental duties.
