Nov 08 - R&J College Win Darts Friendship Cup
R&J College have won the Friendship Cup.
The Friendship Cup, donated by Mr. Bill Gibson, the Leicestershire (UK) secretary was introduced in 1979.
Mr Joe McCarthy, the Gibraltar Darts Association secretary at the time and Mr. John Trinidad travelled to Leicester to collect this brilliant cup. The first team to win this cup was a five-man team from St. Theresa's Social Club.
This year’s Friendship Cup enjoyed a healthy turnout of 60 players (12 teams). R&J College secured the title with a win over second division Glacis in the final 3-0.
R&J College dominated throughout the event. They managed to only lose one game on their route to the final, in which they beat rivals Lincoln Red Imps 3-1 in the Semi Finals.
Glacis also did themselves proud, by becoming one of the few second division sides to make the final in the events history.
