The 41st Special Olympics Gibraltar National Games took place from 24 to 26 June 2026, celebrating the extraordinary talents and determination of athletes from across Gibraltar. The Gibraltar Defence Police (GDP) were honoured to support the event by providing representatives at each sporting competition throughout the three days.
TPA Inspector Jansen Guy attended the Opening Ceremony and the Athletics events on 24 June. On 25 June, Chief of Police John McVea and Inspector Jeremy Lopez were present at the Futsal competition, while Inspector Dylan Borastero represented the force at the Bocce event. On the final day, 26 June, Inspector Nik Baitson attended the Bowling competition, with Chief of Police John McVea and Inspector Dina Laoudy supporting the Swimming events.
The Gibraltar Defence Police take great pride in being part of this inspiring occasion, which highlighted the exceptional skills, determination, and sportsmanship of all the athletes. Reflecting the spirit of the Special Olympics oath — “Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt” — every competitor gave their very best.
