Gibraltar Cultural Services has announced the nominees for the 2026 Cultural Awards. Public voting will open in September, with the winners announced at the awards ceremony on 25th November.

Today, as part of YGTV’s commitment to boosting its cultural content, we start a new series. In the coming months, we’ll be contacting artists, poets, novelists, musicians, dancers and others to ask them for tips to help beginners appreciate and learn more about their art form.

The Gibraltarian actor Matthew Navas will host an “intimate, candid evening” during which he’ll reflect on his creative journey and drama career so far. The event promises to give people a taste of the ups and downs of studying abroad through the lens of musical theatre.

A new book of short stories by cousins Terence Moss and Vicky Bailey has been released. Titled ‘Between Light and Shadow’, the book contains tales that are described as “both haunting and familiar.”

The Gibraltarian academic Professor David Álvarez, who is based in Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan (U.S) recently made a trip to Gibraltar, a small city with under 5,000 people in the same state.

Professionals in the medical and care sectors, families of those living with hardship, sufferers themselves and, indeed, anyone interested in the human condition will find a lot to learn from these brave accounts of adversity. For all its dismal detail, it’s a surprisingly uplifting book.
