A Travellers Tale.
If you woke up one day and found out you had the ability to time travel where would you go? This is a question we ask most of our interviewees on some of our YGTV Presents programmes as part of Gibraltar News segments.
Last night I pondered this question, which if you answered simply you would probably pick a point in the past that has fascinated you for your own personal reasons.
Gladiatorial Rome was one of the first things that popped into my mind and it was quickly discarded for 65millon BC yeah dinosaurs! I then thought about Jurrassic Park and we all know how any interaction with large reptiles usually ends.
More and more snippets of history flashed across my mental screen, factual or tarnished by Hollywood, each idea binned for a multitude of possible outcomes, most of them fatal.
Was that why I had never visited myself with a warning not to time travel? Had I perished on some battlefield due to an arrow to the knee? What about paradoxes created by your meddling in your past affairs? What if you went back in time and you killed your grandfather on your mother’s side? Your mother would not be born and neither would you.
With my head hurting trying to make sense of the entire time travel conundrum I turned my mind to the future. Where would I go? To my deathbed to see how I would finally punch out. Would I meddle and try to stop the ultimate truth, knowing full well that the only thing I would be doing would be postponing the inevitable. Nope that did not light my BBQ either.
Just as I was about to nod off it came to me in a flash of inspiration, I knew exactly where in time I would go
