Feb 17 - German Police Attachment

A serving German Police Officer with the Landespolizei undergoing executive training at the German Police Academy, has been on a two-week attachment with the Royal Gibraltar Police.

Thirty-one year old Sabine Hofmann joined the German police aged nineteen and since completing two and a half years basic training has served in various operational roles. Having returned to the academy for executive training Sabine has chosen the Royal Gibraltar Police to undertake some practical training.

Whilst in Gibraltar Sabine has been exposed to most of the Royal Gibraltar Police’s departments spending time with the Serious Crime Unit, Criminal Investigation Department and the Scenes of Crime and Fingerprint Unit. She has also accompanied operational police officers of the Traffic Department, Area Response Shifts and the Marine Section. Sabine also spent time learning about the RGP’s Neighbourhood Policing activity which she found of particular interest. Ms Hofmann was also given an insight into the Gibraltar Courts having spent a day visiting the Gibraltar Courts Service.

Summing up her two weeks to the Commissioner, Mr Eddie Yome, Sabine said that she was grateful to the Royal Gibraltar Police for affording her the opportunity to experience policing outside her own country and that she was confident this would assist her in her future personal development.
