Michelle Roman Art Exhibition Opens
An exhibition of artworks by Michelle Roman opened yesterday evening at the Fine Arts Gallery in Casemates.
Displaying paintings and ink drawings featuring skeletons, skulls and other macabre images, each work, says the artist, tells its own story.
Skeletons are depicted as being in love, as missing each other and gazing off into the distance. Often, in these imagined, Gothic-romantic scenes, they’re also accompanied by skeleton ‘pets’.
In an interview last month with YGTV, the artist said: “The macabre in my work isn’t about fear; it’s about embracing and exploring the profound darkness that exists alongside the light—the ultimate yin and yang of existence. Skeletons serve as the perfect vehicle for this storytelling.”
All the works on display are on sale. The exhibition will run until the 16th of October.
