‘Trust Me, I’m A Doctor’ at the Magazine Studio Theatre Next Month

‘Trust Me, I’m A Doctor’, a play by Hannah Mifsud, will be performed at the Magazine Studio Theatre in Flat Bastion Road over four nights next month. 

The Magazine Studio Theatre Company will also become the first Gibraltarian company ever to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival when they take the play up north to Scotland after the local performances. 

The play is about a GP with health anxiety whose life spirals out of control when she meets the new junior doctor on her ward. The cast features Tanya Santini in the lead role of Rose, Nyree Turnock Robinson, Stefan Garcia, Jonathan Teuma, William Menez and Anna Recagno.

Playwright Hannah Mifsud told YGTV that the audience “can expect to laugh a lot.”

She continued: “Even with its heavy subject matter the play doesn’t take itself too seriously and uses humour to help confront the difficulties of anxiety and essentially a midlife crisis… I think there’s also some poignant moments that ask some big questions and maybe even answer some of these questions too…. and the cast is so talented they bring every line so much life! It’s just a lot of fun.”

Hannah said she was both proud and excited about taking the play to Edinburgh: “I’m really excited! And really proud to be doing it and setting a benchmark for being the first fully Gibraltarian group to take anything to the Fringe. It’s something we had discussed as a company since first performing it in Gibraltar for the drama festival in 2022 and this year I moved to England to pursue a writing masters and thought it was the perfect time to organise it."
