A statement from El Martillo Group follows below:
150 NEW JOBS. 150 NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR GIBRALTAR.
El Martillo Group has announced that it will be recruiting 150 people across its businesses, with every new role coming with training.
The fourth-generation Gibraltar family business says the recruitment drive is not only about creating jobs, but about passing on decades of knowledge and experience to the next generation.
The new vacancies will cover a broad range of professions and trades, including accountants, administration, drivers, divers, mechanics, chefs, technicians, marine and waste specialists, security staff, engineers and tradespeople.
A key part of the programme will be learning on the job.
New recruits will work alongside experienced employees, some of whom have spent 30 or 40 years developing their skills. The aim is to make sure that experience is passed on rather than lost when long-standing members of the workforce eventually retire.
The opportunities will be open across generations, from school leavers looking for their first opportunity to parents returning to work and experienced professionals and tradespeople with knowledge of their own to pass on.
We particularly encourage applications from within our local community. Candidates should have a strong command of spoken and written English, with Spanish considered a strong advantage.
For El Martillo, the message is that a skill learned locally is a skill that can remain in Gibraltar for another generation.
For Gibraltar, it means 150 new jobs, more training and more opportunities for people to build their future locally.
