GAMPA Wins National Drama Festival Award

Gibraltar Academy of Music Performing Arts recently took part in the UK’s National Drama Festival where the group received the festival’s Adjudicator Award in recognition of their storytelling.

Gibraltar Cultural Services, on behalf of the Ministry of Culture, is pleased to share that this year’s Gibraltar International Drama Festival winners, Gibraltar Academy of Music Performing Arts (GAMPA), took part in the UK’s National Drama Festival.

The National Drama Festival Association (NDFA) celebrates the very best of amateur theatre across the British Isles, showcasing outstanding one act and full length plays. To qualify, a production must score over 80 marks in an adjudicated festival during the current season. GAMPA earned an impressive 91 points for their performance of A Hundred Words for Snow at this year’s Gibraltar Festival, securing their place at the NDFA, where they performed on Saturday night at the Artrix in Bromsgrove.

GCS is delighted to announce that the group received the Adjudicator Award in recognition of their emotive and visually striking storytelling.

Minister for Equality, Employment, Culture and Tourism, The Hon. Christian Santos GMD MP said, “GAMPA’s success is a celebration not only of outstanding theatre but of Gibraltar’s thriving cultural sector. Our performing arts community continues to demonstrate that Gibraltar can compete and succeed on the national stage, and this recognition is richly deserved.
