New Community Mental Health Hub Approved

Plans to turn Sir Joshua Hassan House into a new community mental health hub have been unanimously approved by the Development and Planning Commission.

The Minister for Health, Care and Business, the Hon Gemma Arias-Vasquez MP, has welcomed the Development and Planning Commission’s unanimous approval of plans to repurpose Sir Joshua Hassan House on Secretary’s Lane as a new community mental health hub. 

The building will house the Community Mental Health Team, alongside the Office of the Ombudsman and the Citizens Advice Bureau, providing purpose-designed consultation, clinic and treatment space with an accessible entrance for each service. 

The Minister for Health, Care and Business, the Hon Gemma Arias-Vasquez MP, said: “I welcome the Commission’s unanimous decision. A dedicated, purpose-designed home for the Community Mental Health Team will give people better and more dignified access to the care they rely on. 

“There is more to do, that is for sure, although this new hub is one important part of that ongoing work. 

“I want to thank everyone involved in the consultation process for this new facility for their care and input. I look forward to seeing the works progress.”
