St Paul’s Reception Children Meet Local Community Workers
Reception children at St Paul’s School met a range of local professionals on Monday as part of their “People Who Help Us” topic.
The visit included lifeguards, paramedics, dental staff, postal workers, a hairdresser, a photographer and the GBC crew, who spoke to the children about their jobs and the equipment they use.
A statement from the Government follows below:
Reception children at St Paul’s School enjoyed a very special experience on Monday 19th October, as part of their People Who Help Us topic, welcoming a wonderful range of professionals who play an important role in our community.

The children had the opportunity to meet lifeguards, a paramedic team, a dentist and dental nurse, postal workers, a lollipop lady, a hairdresser, a photographer and the GBC crew, all of whom generously gave their time to support this initiative and share their knowledge with our youngest learners.

Throughout the visit, the children were able to discover more about the different professions, learn about the important work they do and explore some of the equipment they use. Most importantly, meeting these professionals within the familiar and safe environment of their own school allowed the children to feel comfortable, confident and excited to ask questions, share their ideas and learn directly from the people who help our community every day.

At St Paul’s, we believe that meaningful, hands-on experiences are an important part of learning. Initiatives such as People Who Help Us bring learning to life, helping children make connections between what they learn in the classroom and the world around them. They also nurture curiosity, build confidence and encourage an early appreciation of the many people who contribute to our community.

St Paul’s School would like to extend its sincere thanks to all the professionals who took time out of their busy schedules to visit us and support this initiative. Their generosity, enthusiasm and willingness to engage with the children helped make the experience both memorable and valuable for our Reception pupils.
