Woman Charged Over Alleged Forged Passport At Gibraltar Airport

A 32-year-old Georgian national is due to appear before the Magistrates' Court after being charged with possessing a forged passport. The RGP says she was arrested at Gibraltar International Airport after officers allegedly found her with a forged Lithuanian passport and her genuine Georgian passport in her possession.

A statement from the Police follows below:

32 year old Georgian national Maguli KVRIVTCHIRISHVILI will be appearing before the  Magistrates' Court this morning charged with one count of being in Possession of a  Forged or Irregular Passport.

The charge follows her arrest by RGP Special Branch officers on Wednesday 9th  September at Joshua Hassan Gibraltar International Airport, after receiving information  from UK authorities regarding anomalies identified within the application for a United  Kingdom Entry Travel Authorisation (ETA) submitted by a passenger that was due to fly  to the UK from Gibraltar that same evening.

Officers identified and intercepted KVRIVTCHIRISHVILI prior to her reaching the Airport  Immigration Exit Check area, and found her to be in possession of a forged Lithuanian  passport bearing some of her personal details under a false identity. Further enquiries  confirmed the passport she intended to present to Schengen and Gibraltar Immigration  authorities in order to board her flight to the UK was a forgery, and her genuine  Georgian passport was found in her possession.

KVRIVTCHIRISHVILI was interviewed during her detention at New Mole House on  Thursday, charged, and detained in police custody pending her appearance before the  court this morning.
