New Book of Stories by Humbert Hernandez Released Today

A new book containing 25 short stories by Humbert Hernandez has been released today. La venganza se sirve fría is the fifth volume in his series ‘Historias de Gibraltar.’
The stories are set in Gibraltar between the 1930s and the 1980s and the collection reflects everyday life during those decades, covering a wide emotional range from the farcical to the tragic.
The stories also portray the less flattering aspects of life in Gibraltar, presenting the turbulent fortunes of those who lived on the Rock without embellishment. The tone varies across the collection: some stories are humorous, such as ‘Dos callos recalentados’ and ‘Paca la Remangá’, while others deal with more serious themes, including ‘Anna’, ‘Djamila’ and ‘Parálisis.’
Taken together, the stories offer a view of a Gibraltar that is now part of the past but still relevant to understanding the present.
