Sep 22 - “Don’t Ignore What’s Going On At Ground Level” Says GSD
The GSD has said that the latest press release from the Government “dismissing” the concerns expressed by people regarding the advance appointments system at the Primary Care Centre, waiting times at the A & E Department and cancellation of surgery appointments at very short notice as “hearsay” and “preposterous” is “not only arrogance at its worst, but an insult to all those people who have experienced these difficulties on a daily basis.”
The GSD says the Minister “should get down from his ivory tower” and talk to the people affected adding that he would not be so dismissive if he took the time to do so. In relation to the cancellation of appointments, the GSD says that it appears that “they say one thing in Government and another in Opposition or have they forgotten the often repeated mantra from 2007-11 that not even one cancelled operation was acceptable?”
The GSD says the Government would do well to take up some of the policies it suggested in its previous press release “rather than call the testimonies of people ‘hearsay’ and ‘preposterous’.”
The party also says it would be of benefit to Dr. Cortes to visit the Primary Care Centre at the beginning of each month and “witness for himself the mayhem that is around him due to his party’s sheer lack of judgment and planning.”
