Jan 15 - Government Condemns GSD Financial Secretary Letter
Following news that a letter containing ‘analysis, innuendo and accusations made by the seven members of the Opposition’ was sent to the Financial Secretary, No 6 has insisted that the stunt is ‘nothing more than cheap political theatre for dramatic effect.’
Commenting on the matter, the Government has also said that they are fully satisfied with the Financial Secretary and his team, and believes they are doing an excellent job in carrying out their duties in accordance with the approved policy of the Government. A spokesperson goes on to condemn the Opposition for questioning the integrity of ‘a long serving and loyal senior civil servant, to suit its own political agenda.’
‘The policy of the GSD, when they were in Government, was that the Opposition should write to Ministers when seeking information and not engage directly with civil servants. Instead of following their own policy, the GSD have taken the step of putting a senior civil servant wrongly and unfairly in the public spotlight.
