Jan 20 - Garcia Leaves For Gibraltar Exhibition In European Parliament
The Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Joseph Garcia, left for Brussels today for a series of meetings and in order to visit the Gibraltar exhibition which opened at the European Parliament yesterday.
The exhibition will run this week on the third floor concourse of the European Parliament building which is a prime location for exhibitions of this nature. It is sponsored by South West and Gibraltar MEP Ashley Fox.
The interactive stand covers different aspects of Gibraltar including the political and traces Gibraltar's recent history and our position in the European Union. There is a section which gives details of the economy and another which traces the origins of the people of Gibraltar.
The timing of the exhibition could not be better as it comes after Spain sought to exclude Gibraltar from the Single European Sky II+ and amidst the continuing investigations by the European Commission into the situation at the land frontier.
Dr Garcia will also take the opportunity to view the new Gibraltar office in Brussels with Sir Graham Watson.
Commenting on the matter, Dr Garcia said: "The Government is very grateful to Ashley Fox MEP for making the arrangements to sponsor the exhibition stand. There have already been many visitors to the exhibition and we look forward to a successful few days."
