Oct 02 - New RAF Station Commander Takes Over On Monday
The new RAF Station Commander will take over on Monday. Wing Commander Liz Hutchison will replace the outgoing Station Commander Greg Smith. Ms Hutchison will be the first woman to have served in this top role on the Rock and she will be the most senior officer stationed at RAF Gibraltar.
Speaking to YGTV, Ms Hutchison explained how her career led her to the top job at RAF Gibraltar.
“My career has been pretty varied; I joined the RAF in 1997 and I’m an air traffic controller by trade but, as ever, I’ve done a range of jobs at the Ministry of Defence including human resources work and in several operations in Iraq and Afghanistan,” she said.
Ms Hutchison said that her RAF postings had resulted in many different experiences and she was “very much looking forward to” her new role in Gibraltar.
