The new “slimmed down” Gibraltar Day in London format will present the Rock as a modern hub for finance and telecommunications, according to the Chief Minister.
Speaking at a reception held at Fulham Palace straight after Sunday mass this afternoon, he said: “There is a modern Gibraltar that we want to tell the City about.”
Under the new arrangements, instead of a large reception for 1,200 guests at the Guildhall like last year, a smaller event for 150 “top politicians and financiers” will be held tomorrow evening in the iconic ‘Gherkin’ skyscraper.
Mr Picardo said that future plans for Gibraltar Day were still developing but that he wanted to include a “Gibraltarian reunion” perhaps featuring local food.
The Chief Minister also welcomed the message of Bishop Zammit’s earlier sermon adding that the strength of family and community bonds have helped Gibraltar and its people through difficult times.
