Mar 20 - Round Table Gibraltar Meets Duke of Edinburgh
Members of Gibraltar’s Round Table were granted a special audience with HRH the Duke of Edinburgh at Buckingham Palace last week. This follows a ‘Cornerstone of the Community’ Award recently presented to Round Table Gibraltar by the Newcastle Building Society.
Round Table is a non-political, international professional young men’s networking and community service association that currently flourishes in the majority of European Countries.
RT Gibraltar was twinned with RT Airdrie ten years ago. The two Tables enjoy an excellent relationship, and visit each other every year. This time round, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the twinning, the two Tables agreed to meet in London
In commemoration of Commonwealth Day, the Patron of the National Association of Round Tables in the UK, His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh, welcomed the 25 Tablers to Buckingham Palace, and was very generous with his time, as he spoke to most members of the group.
Commenting on the matter, Paul Collado, President of RT Gibraltar, said, ‘We are extremely grateful to our Airdrie colleagues for arranging such a special event and I am personally honoured to have been given the opportunity to introduce my fellow Gibraltarian Tablers to His Royal Highness.’
