Tyrone Buttigieg Becomes WBC Latin Silver Belt Champion

Local boxer and firefighter Tyrone Buttigieg won the WBC Latin Silver Belt on Saturday night at the Casino Admiral in San Roque.
Tyrone beat the Venezuelan boxer Ernesto Martinez after a ten round fight.
The casino arena was completely sold out with the vast majority of the crowd coming from Gibraltar.
Tyrone said the atmosphere was "buzzing" when the national anthem was sung.
This was the boxer's first ten round fight and only his seventh fight in his career.
Tyrone won most of the rounds with just the occasional set back. "My opponent proved to be awkward and tougher than I expected but overall I felt great there and I was very happy with my fitness," he said.
The judges gave Tyrone the victory by a unanimous decision. "I felt very emotional after the fight as this was a childhood dream for me," he told YGTV. Tyrone is now looking forward to resting and hitting the ring again early next year.
