Dave Obee Classic - Ranking 2

66 years ago the Gibraltar Darts Association was born when an RAF Corporal named Dave Obee who ran the Military Darts Club, merged with the Gibraltar Civilian Darts Club which was run by Carmelo Ellul in 1958.
A report from the Gibraltar Darts Association follows: “To celebrate our two Co-founders, Carmelo Ellul and Dave Obee, two of our season rankings tournaments are named after them.
“On the 08/10/24 we celebrated by hosting the Carmelo Ellul Trophy which was won by Justin Hewitt.
“This time round it’s the second ranking of the 2024-2025 season, the Dave Obee Classic, which took place on the 12th of November 2024 at the George Federico Hall, Europa Sports Complex.
“33 players participated in a preliminary, first and second Round plus quarter finals were played before we had our semi-finalists.
“The first Semi-finalists were this year’s Carmelo Ellul trophy winner Justin Hewitt Vs Juan Carlos Munoz, two big names in Gibraltar darts.
“The second Semi-finalists, were this year’s Carmelo Ellul Trophy runner up Dyson Parody Vs Craig Galliano, also big Local darts names. The match Finished 5-1 for Craig Galliano, making the final for the Dave Obee Classic the two darts players that beat Spain in the World Cup of darts and had a successful campaign in that tournament.
“THE FINAL - Justin Hewitt Vs Craig Galliano, World Cup Partners and now finalists and rivals for the Dave Obee Classic title. The match was best of 11 legs and both players were scoring high numbers with Craig Galliano scoring in two legs an average of 100.20 and Justin Hewitt scoring a 115.62 and a 13 darter. Both players were playing at a professional level between 13 to 17 darters equal to the players in the PDC circuit. After an intense final a winner needed to be decided and Craig Galliano hit his winning double to win the match 6-3.
“The GDA will like to congratulate the winner and runner-up and all those that took part in the tournament. A thank you also for the event organisers and those behind the bar making sure that our drinks was always full.
“The next Gibraltar ranking will be the Willie Proctor Masters and will take place on the 21st of January 2025.
