Special Olympics Gibraltar Return Home

Gibraltar’s Special Olympics Team returned to the Rock on Monday afternoon with a record haul of medals of 4 golds and one silver.
The Minister for Sport, the Hon Leslie Bruzon, welcomed them upon their arrival, adding that: “It has been a privilege to witness these athletes in action on the slopes and on the snow shoeing track. For them to come away with a record medal haul makes the experience extra special.
"However, just watching them compete whilst displaying a humbling degree of sportsmanship irrespective of the outcome was the real highlight in a week of unforgettable moments. During the Unified experience I discovered firsthand how tough snow shoeing can be and as an avid skier myself I have the utmost respect for the performances witnessed on the slopes.
"Athletes and coaches have earned their well deserved rest, but I am sure they will be back in training very soon. Welcome Home, Team Gibraltar.”
