GDA Strongbow Singles

On Tuesday 18th March the Europa Sports Complex hosted the Strongbow Singles – the GDA’s 5th Ranking Tournament sponsored by Lewis Stagnetto Ltd.
A statement from the GDA follows below:
27 Players registered for the Tournament, the results of which will determine who will represent Gibraltar at the next World Cup in South Korea.
In the 2nd Round Nº1 Seed Justin Hewitt was unable to see off an on-form Sean Negrette losing 4-1, while Nº 7 Seed Justin Broton lost to a determined Jarvis Bautista 4-0. The remaining seeds comfortably saw off their opponents as follows;
Nº 8 David Francis 4 – 0 Graeden Busto
Nº 4 Nico Bado 4 – 0 Kean Olivero
Nº 5 Ethan Pulham 4 – 0 Kirei Walker
Nº 2 Craig Galliano 4 – 1 Casey Dyer
Nº 3 Dyson Parody 4 – 1 Keith Medhurst
Nº 6 Juan Carlos Muñoz 4 – 0 Jyzen Garcia
Quarter-Finals
Sean Negrette saw off a strong challenge by David Francis winning 4 -2 while Nico Bado comfortably beat Ethan Pulham 4 – 0. Craig Galliano halted Jarvis Bautista’s ambitions with a 4 – 2 victory and Juan Carlos Muñoz got the better of Dyson Parody by the same scoreline.
Semi-Finals
Both Semi-Finals were closely fought with Nico Bado defeating Sean Negrette 5 – 4. Craig Galliano held off Juan Carlos Muñoz with a 5 – 3 score.
Final
Nico started strongly and rapidly eeked out a 3-0 lead. Craig was able to claim the 4th and from then on they alternated wins until Nico sealed the win with a 100.2 average in the final leg; Nico Bado 6 – 3 Craig Galliano.
