Gibraltar Shore Jigging And Spinning Club Joins GFSA

The Gibraltar Shore Jigging and Spinning Club has joined the Gibraltar Federation of Sea Anglers.
A statement from GFSA follows below:
GFSA has increased the number of Federated Clubs from 3 to 4.
The Shore Jigging and Spinning Club has been formed with the aims and objectives of:
- Protect species and ensuring that anglers handle them correctly
- Promoting healthy fun opportunities that provide youth people an alternative to gaming consoles, mobile phones and worse temptations.
-
Promoting outdoor activities in a safe, and environmentally friendly manner.
GSJSC will be hosting regular competitions based on seasonal activities, involving different types of jigging and spinning techniques targeting pelagic fish species, bass and other fish in different locations along Gibraltar’s shoreline.
The Club believes there are very few organised club-based activities for young people these days. GSJSC’s vision is to educate them, help them appreciate the sport and above all, to be aware of safety and to leave their surroundings as they should find it, in a clean and respectable manner. It is our group’s belief, that once a young person enjoys the action of fighting a decent sized fish on the line, which they can proudly boast about and take home to eat, they’ will be hooked on the sport for life. This will encourage them to rely less on their TV’s, gaming consoles and mobile phones for their daily activities.
GSJSC will be hosting an Open day on Friday 9th May at 1800 hours at Rosia, where anyone interested will be able to join the club, and GFSA.
