The Minister for Economic Development yesterday attended the official opening of the Junior World Cup Darts, marking the start of the Junior Darts Cooperation Week, with Gibraltar proudly serving as the final destination for this year’s international competition.
This year’s edition has brought together 21 countries and a remarkable 265 young players, showcasing the global growth of junior darts and the importance of international youth sporting events.
The competition officially commenced today at the Europa Sports Complex, where teams gathered for the launch of what promises to be an exciting and memorable tournament. Gibraltar, known for its hospitality and strong sporting spirit, once again takes centre stage as it hosts this prestigious event.
Addressing participants, families, and officials, the Minister warmly welcomed all visiting nations. He stated:
“Thank you very much. It’s a real pleasure to have this opportunity to see at first sight the wonderful place we’ve got here and to have the opportunity to welcome all the countries. Gibraltar is always a very open place, and you make us very happy when you come here to join with us and show how important it is that young people should get to know each other from other parts of the world, learn from each other and have an enjoyable competition where the best will win. And I wish you all the best of our Gibraltar luck.”
The Minister also highlighted Gibraltar’s pride in its own young athletes who have successfully progressed into the final phase of the competition. With strong performances today, Team Gibraltar will be competing in tomorrow’s grand finale, which promises to be an electrifying conclusion to the Junior World Cup Darts.
He further praised the organisers of the Junior Darts Cooperation Week for their dedication to promoting youth sport, international friendship, and cultural exchange.
Gibraltar looks forward to an exciting finale today as players compete for the title, celebrate sportsmanship, and strengthen bonds across nations.
