Last week a GFA EGM was held and a decision was made on the uncertainty of National Team coach Allan Bula’s future with the association. It was announced today that Mr. Bula will sign a further 3 year contract, which will see him continue to take charge of the National ‘A” Team until after the qualifiers for Euro 2016.

It was also decided during the EGM that the council will host monthly meetings with representatives of all local clubs on the last Thursday of every month, commencing on 25th July, in order to keep them posted on administrative developments and other issues.

The Association also noted that a number of Association meetings have recently attended UEFA workshops and seminars, including Richard Manning and Dennis Beiso who participated in a UEFA Club Licensing workshop, which will see a new club licensing system introduced to enable Gibraltarian clubs to participate in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europe League.

John Cruz and Christian Mascarenhas have also recently returned from UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland in order to attend a seminar for Match Managers in relation to the European Qualifiers for Euro 2016. The draw for the Qualifiers will be held in Nice, France on the 23rd February 2014.

Adrian Bacarisa is currently in Frankfurt, Germany attending a UEFA Referee Convention workshop. Adrian will also be attending UEFA Centre of Refereeing Excellence (CORE) 19 in Switzerland from the 28th to 31st August as an observer before 3 Gibraltarian officials – Jason Barcelo, Stewart Bonavia and Tim Reoch – attend UEFA CORE 21 as full participants in October.

The GFA also explained that UEFA Executive Committee member Mr. Michael Van Praag, who is also the President of the Royal Netherlands Football Association (KNVB), will be visiting Gibraltar together with Mr. Marc Esselink, from UEFA’s National Associations Division, next month. Mr. Van Praag has been appointed Gibraltar’s “portfolio holder” in the UEFA Executive Committee, meaning that Mr. Van Praag will directly assist the GFA in any administrative issues relating to UEFA.

The Gibraltar U-13 national team will leave for Estoril, Protugal to take part in the Iber Cup, on June 301th. The cup is one of the largest and most reputable international youth tournaments in Europe. Two development referees from Gibraltar - Glen Gilbert and Andrew Parody Jnr. - will be refereeing matches in the tournament. In addition, three referee assessors: Tim Reoch, Paul Grech and Adrian Bacarisa will also be coaching/assessing referees in the Iber Cup.
