Apr 18 - More Than £5,500 Raised For Drug Rehab Charity "Stay Clean"
A family fun day organised by the Royal Gibraltar Police recruits has raised more then £5,000 for drug and alcohol rehabilitation charity Stay Clean, with more money to come.
The family fun day was officially launched by Minister for Social Services Samantha Sacramento and there were a number of activities for children of all ages including go-karting, a bouncy castle, face painting, throwing wet sponges at RGP recruits, a bike-a-thon and much more.
Representatives from the Stay Clean charity were on hand to explain to passers by what it is they do and how they can help people with a history of alcohol or drug abuse.
President Damian Broton said: “It’s really good to see how much support we have from the local community, and something like today helps to raise awareness for the work we do.
“We provide a drop-in centre for people who have just left Bruce’s Farm, and give them the chance to speak to someone, have a coffee or we organise activities such as fishing as a way to help.
“We work with the RGP and Customs as well as the Government, and really everyone benefits from the charity.”
The money raised from Saturday morning’s event will help to kit out the clubhouse’s premises in Nazareth House.
