Gibraltar NASUWT Welcomes Creation Of 49 New Permanent Teaching Posts

Gibraltar NASUWT has welcomed the announcement made yesterday by Minister John Cortes regarding the creation of 49 new permanent teaching posts in Gibraltar this year.
A statement from Gibraltar NASUWT follows below:
Gibraltar NASUWT welcomes the announcement made yesterday by the Minister for Education and Environment, the Hon. Dr. John Cortes, during the latest round of budget talks, regarding the creation of 49 new permanent teaching posts in Gibraltar this year.
This added investment in the education sector marks a positive step forward in strengthening and expanding the teaching workforce. Since the formation of our new executive, Gibraltar NASUWT has been striving to secure much-needed support for young teachers currently seeking permanent roles, therefore today´s announcement is a welcome commitment to enhancing stability within the profession.
Minister Cortes also confirmed that this initiative aligns with a consultation process with Gibraltar NASUWT, as we work towards establishing a new policy for supply workers. This matter has recently been at the centre of our continued engagement with the Government, as we collaborate on the creation of this necessary policy, to protect our members´ terms and conditions.
As Gibraltar NASUWT, we welcome this announcement and view it as an investment not just in teachers, but in future generations. The creation of permanent positions will contribute to continuity in classrooms and provide more stability for young professionals already making invaluable contributions to education in Gibraltar.
We continue to push for our members to be valued within the profession and treated fairly whilst in service. We look forward to further collaboration with the Government to ensure that teaching in Gibraltar is a respected, rewarding, and sustainable career.'
