This is your last chance to sign up for tomorrow's Childline Blue Week Quiz. The event will be hosted at the Royal Calpe at 7:30 pm and will mark the end of the Charity's flagship Blue week, during which they raise awareness on a number of causes. Interested individuals are asked to call 20043503 to book a team of 4 - 6 people. Tickets are £15 each with all funds raised going towards the charity. Ticket prices include a curry supper at the Royal Calpe.
Childline Gibraltar will hold its annual awareness-raising Blue Day on Friday 14 March. On Blue Day, Childline volunteers will visit local schools while staff at many local companies will show their support by dressing in blue for the day.
On Saturday 15th, the Gibraltar Rockettes Cheerleaders will support Childline by performing in Casemates Square between 12 noon and 1pm. Winners of the recent Cheersport solo competition will also be performing.
Gibraltar’s biggest charity hair cut-a-thon will aim to collect sponsorship funds for the GBC open Day Fund. All the hair cut during the afternoon will be donated to The Little Princess Trust in the UK, which makes and provides real hair wigs for children suffering from hair loss due to cancer or alopecia.
Last year Childline Gibraltar received 781 calls to the Helpline and 21% of these were bullying related. A further 23% were abuse-related and it is important to note that most cases of abuse also involve some degree of bullying. The charity believes that this clearly demonstrates that bullying amongst young people is an issue in Gibraltar.
British Forces spouse Karen Marsh was so moved by the sight of a young wounded serviceman that she will be completing a 12 day trek to Everest Base Camp in aid of Help 4 Heroes.
