Convent Christmas Fair Committee Donates £1000 To Cathedral Organ Fund
The Convent Christmas Fair Committee has donated £1,000 to the Cathedral Organ Fund, with the money coming from funds raised through the Fair.
The donation is the second of several charitable contributions being made ahead of this year’s Convent Christmas Fair, which will take place on 26th November.
A statement from the Office of the Governor follows below:
The Convent is pleased to announce a donation of £1,000 to the Cathedral Organ Fund.
The Committee recently agreed to distribute additional funds raised through the Fair to a number of Gibraltar charities and in view of the appeal, they unanimously selected the Cathedral Organ Fund as one of its beneficiaries.
The donation meets nearly 10% of the amount required to support the repair and maintenance of the organ at the Cathedral of St Mary the Crowned, the last surviving pipe organ in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Gibraltar. The organ's preservation is important not only to the Cathedral, but also to Gibraltar's wider religious, musical and cultural heritage.
This donation is the second of several charitable contributions that will be announced in the lead up to this year’s Convent Christmas Fair, which will take place on Thursday 26th November 2026 from 1200-1730. Further details will be announced in due course.
